After reading at Lois Ehlert's book Leaf-Man, the first graders were inspired by the artist's colorful collages when they created these masterpieces. The students made a variety of colored papers using chalk pastel, tempera paint and markers, which they cut out and shared with each other. This project not only allowed the blossoming artists to practice their mark making, cutting and gluing skills, but trading their papers was a great opportunity for them to discover how they can collaborate with their peers in their art endeavours.
