3rd Grade Winter Tree Paintings

Students took a new approach to painting in this lesson by using the edges of a flashcards dipped in black paint to recreate trees that they had sketched outside of the art room. This approach allowed the students a means to think outside of the box, introducing them to alternative art tools. After the students explored this new style of painting to create their winter trees, they made bright borders using mixed-media to create color and textural contrast.
