Inspired by Laurel Birch's colorful cat paintings, the first graders designed their own family of fabulous felines. Using colored pencils, the students learned how to use line and shape to form interesting animals, they developed unique patterns, as well as mixed colors to create stunning contrast.

The first grade students kicked off an Under the Sea Unit by creating these bright drawings of seahorses. After studying the shapes and details of the creatures, the students drew out and colored in their seahorses using oil pastel. Great job!

Colorwheel Mandalas

After learning about Mandalas and Radial Symmetry, the second grade students created these lovely color wheels. In doing so, applied primary, hand-mixed secondary and tertiary colors, pairs of complementary colors, as well as tints and shades.
