4th Grade Impressionist Landscapes

The 4th graders began their drawing unit by studying the Impressionist Movement, specifically the art of Vincent Van Gogh. The students rendered oil pastels in their landscapes to mimic the bold and colorful splashes of color reminiscent of those that Van Gogh used in his paintings. Students applied their knowledge of perspective, analogous and complementary colors, warm and cool colors, contrast in terms of texture and color, as well as a wax resist application in their drawings. Great work!

Are these just some examples or are they from a specific "4th grade" class?

Although the entire 4th grade did this project, these specific drawings were created by Mr. Goodman's class.

I love this blog - these are terrific, and it is lovely to see the whole class displayed in one convenient spot.
